Ultrasound Diagnostic Scans at our Putney clinic provide non-invasive medical imaging to help physicians diagnose and monitor a range of medical conditions. Conveniently located for patients in Putney, Wandsworth, Hammersmith, Richmond, Barnes, Westminster and Roehampton, our private ultrasound clinic offers accessible diagnostic imaging without the need for a referral. Alternatively, your NHS GP can refer you to our Private Ultrasound Clinic in Putney for a diagnostic scan.
Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body’s internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. A handheld device called a transducer sends and receives sound waves, which are converted into detailed images by a computer. Unlike X-rays, ultrasound does not use ionising radiation, making it a safe, non-invasive diagnostic test.
We provide a full range of ultrasound scans, including abdominal, pelvic, vascular Doppler, carotid artery, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal (GI), prostate, and other small parts imaging. We also offer neonatal (0–2 months), infant (2–12 months), and paediatric (1–18 years) scans, as well as early pregnancy, gender and gross anatomy scans.
Proudly serving West Byfleet, Woking, Weybridge, Cobham, Esher, Ascot, Wentworth, Farnham, Wokingham, Wandsworth, Roehampton and surrounding areas of Surrey, Berkshire Hampshire and London for over 10 years, with consistently 5-star reviews.
For our comprehensive range of medical services, return to our home page or menu. In addition, we provide medical aesthetics and ear wax removal and hearing tests.
You lie on a couch and an operator places the transducer (probe) on your skin over the part of your body to be examined. Lubricating jelly is put on your skin so that the transducer makes good contact with your body and helps to effectively transmit the high frequency sound waves into the body. The scan is painless and takes about 15 – 20 minutes, depending on which parts of the body are being examined. A record of the areas examined will be stored as still pictures or as a video recording.
Ultrasound scanners consist of a console containing a computer and electronics, a video display screen and a transducer that is used to scan the body and blood vessels. The transducer is a small hand-held device that resembles a microphone, attached to the scanner by a cord.

It is used in many situations. The way the ultrasound bounces back from different tissues can help to determine the size, shape and consistency of organs, structures and abnormalities. The list below is for services currently available at our Putney Clinic:
